Configuring your NuPoint.net Dial-Up Internet

Connection in Windows XP

From the Start Menu, select Control Panel.

Select Network and Internet Connections.

 

 

 

 

 

Select Setup or change your Internet Connection.

 

This will open the New Connection Wizard. The Internet Properties window opens. Select the Connections tab. Click the Setup... button at the top where it reads: To set up an Internet Connection, click Setup.

Click Next and select Connect to the Internet , then click Next.

Select Set up my connection manually and click Next.

Select Connect using a dial-up modem and click Next.

Type NuPoint.net in the box where it asks you for the name of your ISP.

Enter the phone number 675-3450. If your phone company requires 10-digit dialing, be sure to enter the area code. Click Next.

Enter your username and password provided you by NuPoint, and click Next.

If you want a shortcut to this connection to appear on your desktop, click the checkbox next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop.

12. Click Finish.

To connect to NuPoint, just double-click the icon you created in the setup phase and a dialog box similar to the one below will appear. Enter your username and password (all lower case letters) if needed, then click Dial.

 

 

After completing your dial-up procedure, you should be able to browse the Internet using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer (provided with Windows 95/98) or Netscape, and send/receive e-mail using the e-mail application of your choosing.

The following is some information concerning e-mail configuration:

SMTP Server Name: nupoint.net

POP3 Server Name: nupoint.net Server type: POP3

News Server: news.nupoint.net

If you have trouble getting connected, call NuPoint.net Technical Support at 765-675-7087. NuPoint offers free technical support for new customers on a call-back basis. Additional setup and troubleshooting information is posted on the NuPoint website at www.nupoint.net You can also stop by our offices located at 125 W. Jefferson St., Tipton, Indiana.

NuPoint also offers on-site Internet repair service on an appointment basis. If it becomes necessary for a support technician to make an on-site visit to set up or repair your computer, there will be a minimum charge of $20 for the on-site visit, payable directly to the NuPoint Service Technician. An additional charge of $20 per hour for each additional hour the technician requires to diagnose the problem and either fix the trouble, or recommend a course of action, in the case of a hardware problem outside the scope of our support policy.
